Lefty O'Doul photo print poster vintage Brooklyn Dodgers photograph black and white sports photography sports wall decor gift fan 1932-1933
For a limited time, we are offering to the public, access to never-before-seen historical images of the Golden Age of Baseball from the Burke / Brace Photo Archive. Chicago sports photographer George Burke began photographing baseball players in 1929. Burke’s eye and specialized technique captured the finest study of ballplayer faces as well as pre-game hijinks and candid moments between players, coaches, and fans. His location in Chicago gave him unlimited access to players on all teams in the American and National League.
The Burke images were beautifully captured on one-of-a-kind original 5”x7” and 4”x5” black and white film negatives. Preservation efforts have kept the originals in meticulous condition.
After Burke’s death, his longtime business partner George Brace inherited the rights to George Burke’s archive of negatives and reprinted images of Pre-War players. Brace was a prominent photographer himself. By the time declining health forced him to hang up his camera in 1994, Brace had amassed a collection of hundreds of thousands of negatives intent on accumulating a complete collection of team photos and of any player who ever played the game.
